Social network analysis has been used here to study a sample of students attending 22 classes of lower-secondary schools in Tuscany (Italy). Data analysis is derived from the comparison of networks of different amplitude (the number of students per class) considering some measures of normalization. Beyond highlighting some critical elements in the integration process among different social groups, it is proposed here a network analysis related to the type of family of origin of each student: density and centrality measures of the group, social roles (brokerage).
