New texts and actors in professional training for the deaf: ruptures or permanence?

In this article, I analyse programmes of professional training for the deaf. I direct attention to discourses present in documents proposing a policy of professional training, as well as in projects and reports produced by schools and institutions for the deaf. The analytical units, such as technologies of governance, understood from the Foucaultian perspective, were constructed on the basis of emphases, repetitions, and articulations between prescriptions and procedures of these programmes. They are: capture and ordering of bodies, times and spaces, employability/entrepreneurship, and institutional articulation and reinforcement of civil society. I describe how different strategies that are directed towards deaf individuals, institutions and their professionals have been constituted so as to conduct their actions in an articulated and co-responsible way: machinery invested with power-knowledge-truth relationships that aim at producing subjects who are capable of organising themselves.
