This paper analyses Álvaro Vieira Pinto's contribution to studies on economy and education. His concept of technologically elaborated work should be understood as the result of profound research into human relations which we find in the "culture of economics". His theoretical encounter with Marx's writings reveals an erudite capacity to relate education and political emancipation with the history of technology.
