An intergenerational pact? Challenges for the child's influential action in building a culture of peace

ABSTRACT

This text aims to question the dichotomous character of normative questions regarding citizenship, children's rights, power and participation and their application to daily intra and intergenerational relationships. Alternatively, it proposes an articulated approach to the epistemological and ontological references of the Sociology of Childhood and Research for Peace, supported by the mutual recognition between the quality of daily intergenerational interactions during the construction of a child's identity and promoting their participation and pacifist agency while building a culture of peace. It is also the aim of this text to frame Participatory Research with Children as a more fluid and broader approach regarding questions of intra and intergenerational power, as a foundation for an emancipatory intergenerational pact.
