The Scientific Productions on Private Special Needs Schools (2000-2014)

ABSTRACT:

aiming to investigate the position of the Special Education area in what concerns private special needs schools, this article presents a mapping of the scientific productions of three important sources in the area: Revista Brasileira de Educação Especial, Revista Educação Especial (UFSM), and the articles published by GT15 - Educação Especial of the ANPED. Out of the 975 articles produced between 2000 and 2014 only 24 focused on private special needs schools. Among these, only two pointed out the problems of the constitution of these schools as segregated spaces. The small number of articles concerned in critically analyzing this sphere, which is the reality of a large number of people with disabilities, may indicate a possible lack of theoretical background to support the studies in the area and the consolidation of its scientific productions as supporter and reproducer of a hegemonic culture.
