Gödel and Einstein: what if time does not withstand a friendship?

Some friendships withstand the whims of time. But what if time proper does not withstand the congeniality of a friendship? In 1949 Gödel presented a solution to Einstein's equations - the so-called Gödel's Universe - according to which it would be possible, at least theoretically, to travel back in time. In this article I discuss the physical and philosophical implications of Gödel's work as well as the proficuous friendship with Einstein.
