Flying and Teaching Physics: excerpts from a research

This manuscript presents a snippet from a didactic sequence applied an analyzed in the context of a research from the professional Master’s Degree in Science Teaching at an university in the state of Minas Gerais. The question, which drove and motivated our investigation, was how teacher-student mediation enabled the engagement of some students, from a public school, on the topic of aerodynamics, through the observation of flying objects. During the application of these activities, we found that students had difficulties with the use of descriptive scripts for practical classes by themselves, but when they were exposed to a more appropriate visual graphic elements, great interest and adherence to the proposed activities were aroused in them. With these mediations, the students produced contextualizations based on their own lived experiences which, based on our references, indicates the occurrence of a better conceptual learning in Physics.
