In this work, we present the main arguments which have been used by the main defenders of flat earthism, as well as the historical context related to the development of some essential works for this action. Then, we present a brief historiographic review about the proposed models for the shape of the Earth, identifying how different civilizations came to the conclusion that the spherical model is more appropriate. Finally, we present a series of experimental evidences, some selected for their simplicity, others for their historical relevance, fundamental for any classroom discussion about the shape of our planet.
