The biorthogonal wavelet transform and wavelet bases are a powerful tool for multiscale data analysis, which has many applications in physics, mathematics, and computing technologies. The wavelet theory is constructed not only with the use of a new idea, but with the synergy of concepts and needs in different areas of scientific knowledge. Therefore, this work presents introductory concepts and examples of biorthogonal wavelets techniques that can be of great interest for various types of studies of Brazilian physics community, serving also to other related areas. This text is written, in particular, to researchers, teachers, graduate students and last years under graduate students.
