In the present work we analyze the rupture of metallic wires under the action of stressing impacts. We have collected experimental data in order to relate the mass M and speed V of the body causing the stressing impact in a wire on the threshold of rupture. By making use of Π-Buckingham's theorem of dimensional analysis we have determined an expression for the function M = F(V) and have compared it to simplest possible model of the phenomenon and verified that it is compatible with experimental data.
