In this work, we address the fundamentals of Special Relativity, starting with a review of Lorentz Transformations and their geometric interpretation. We then discuss why the metric in spacetime must have a non-Riemannian signature to ensure the first postulate of the Theory of Relativity. The article aims to fill a didactic gap in the teaching of Physics by providing a solid understanding of the essential concepts of Relativity Theory for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
