The 45 years of the Brazilian Journal of Physics Teaching (RBEF): retrospective, analysis and new trends

The Brazilian Journal of Physics Teaching (RBEF) is a free access journal, edited by the Brazilian Physics Society (SBF) since 1979, with a thematic area at the interface between the humanities (education) and physics. Its vocation is to contribute, through the dissemination of high-quality articles, to the improvement of the teaching of the subject at all levels, promoting and disseminating topics related to teaching and learning in physics and adjacent sciences. Its scope is scientific and technological education, with theoretical, experimental and computational discussions of physics; and, in education, curricular approaches; didactics; of projects and programs; of methods and materials; educational policies; educational research; and epistemological, philosophical and historical. In its 45 years, it has consolidated itself as one of the main journals in the area, an occasion that motivates this effort of systematization, analysis and inferences about the profile of publications, through textual and lexical analysis of the 2,873 published articles, from which was able to draw a quantitative-qualitative retrospective of the content and relationships expressed, which confirms its emphasis on classical and frontier themes of physics and the curricular and training dimension, supporting the identification of horizons and trends for the continuity of its development.
