Abstract:
The relationship between Work, health, and disease as taught in undergraduate medical courses is viewed here on the basis of experience at the UFMG (Federal University in Minas Gerais) School of Medicine. The course has been incorporated into medical training at UFMG since 1971, and the program takes into account the basic skills students need to conduct work within the field of Workers’ Health. The actual course content and syllabus are described, identifying some of the difficulties involved in their implementation and students’ evaluation of the course. The article stress the importance of interfaces with both other disciplines and sectors in the School of Medicine itself and other institutions dealing with workers’ Health.
