How to Open Ways to Change Medical Teaching

Abstract:

Beginning with questions like “what kind of students do we have?”, “what kind of health workers do we want to produce?”, “what kind of school do we want?”, “who is the teacher in this teaching process?”, and “how is medical school to be changed?”, we have sought instruments to go beyond verbalistic, rote teaching, wishing to emphasize learning understood as the active search for information, the aquisition of skills and attitudes, adaptation to change and, above all, the humanization of the medical profession Strategies used included, teaching skills workshops, curricular redistribution, a teacher training project, all guided by inclusive, permanent discussion, where everything is built up critically and collectively. The teaching model is dynamic, and is thus being from day to day in the process of practice-theory-practice.
