Abstract:
This article analyses the curriculum organization developed by the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine of the UNICAMP Medical Science School from 1965 until 1982. Gathering documents teaching programs, reports and catalogues or courses, the study points out the contents and practices as well as the links with the preventive educational aims. The study shows the progressive incorporation of several areas of knowledge without any linkage; the dicotomy between the social theoretical practice and the medical practice; discusses the extra-hospital activities and stresses the basic character of the preventive and social disciplines.
