Summary:
In order to identify the possible causes of broad/y spread preconceived and distorted beliefs about Homeopathy among teachers, professionals and students of Medicine, it was carried out a comprehensive review of several Medical Pharmacology textbooks. It was noticed that these take two basic positions about Homeopathy: they either ignore it altogether or state that it is a practice with no real therapeutic effects, therefore working simply through a placebo effect. However, none of the authors quote bibliographical references that confirm such conclusion. The taking place of well planned and well controlled research on the possible effects of homeopathic treatment in distinct pathological processes, preferably by medical schools, needs to be stimulated and effected in search of better, cheaper and side effects-free therapeutic alternatives.
