The research investigated the actions and contributions of continuing education in the early years of elementary school for the pedagogical practice of 18 teachers in the city of Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul (RS), involving the contents of Information Treatment (IT), based on the Pro-Literacy in Mathematics Program. This qualitative research used the case study approach. The data collection counted on questionnaires, interviews, audio recordings and documentary analysis. The results indicated that the proposal for training has met the expectations of the majority of teachers, in relation to reaching new theoretical knowledge about the content and the process of teaching and learning, as well as contributing to the development of strategies for the pedagogical practice.
