Abstract:
This article analyzes the salaries paid in teaching at basic-education public schools of the state of Santa Catarina and the city of Florianópolis between 2006 and 2014, within the context of the policies to encourage teaching appreciation. Therefore, it is analyzed data on the salaries, which were published in official journals and public institutions and trade unions’ websites, then organized into historical series and presented in graphs and tables. The findings show a significant wage improvement in both systems; however, seeing that the increase is due to the incorporation of components of gross pay, it is questioned whether, in fact, this indicates a teaching appreciation.
