The contributions of Pibid to the critical and social formation of the teacher: the experience of the Universidade Regional do Cariri

Abstract:

This article aims to present reflections on the contributions of the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships (Pibid), for a critical and social formation of the teacher. The questions that guided this article relate to the role played by Pibid in undergraduate courses at the Regional University of Cariri-URCA. Data were collected through documental and bibliographic research. The results show that the Pibid was a significant experience for the IES teacher education courses, as: 1. It created the conditions to think and make a teacher education more in tune with the problems and challenges experienced by the local elementary school. 2. Strengthened a new conception of teaching within teacher training courses aiming at an interdisciplinary training and in tune with the daily life of the school. 3. Gave more visibility and weight to Basic Education in the process of thinking and doing teacher education. 4. In this sense, it was found that through this program there was a more qualitative and permanent approach between the university and the school, which allowed the teachers and students of these institutions to think and act together in the local school education scenario developing activities based on specific problems.
