In 2003 and 2004, the following fungi were found in mangaba (Hancornia speciosa Gomes) seeds in the Brazilian Cerrado: Aspergillus spp., Chaetomium spp., Cladosporium sp., Fusarium spp., Paecilomyces sp., Penicillium spp., Pestalotiopsis sp., Phomopsis sp., Aureobasidium pullulans (de Bary) Arnaud and an unidentified yeast. Pathogenicity tests and subsequent reisolations of Fusarium sp. (CPAC-1857), Pestalotiopsis sp. (CPAC-1838 and CPAC-1844)., Phomopsis sp. (CPAC-1863) and A. pullulans (CPAC-CPAC-1845) from artificially inoculated mangabeira seedlings fulfilled the Koch's postulates.
