Technical and economical analysis of 'Apple' banana tree (Musa spp.) culture, in the northwest region of São Paulo State

This work has been carried out by the Rural Development Office of Jales, Northwest of São Paulo State, intending to survey the potential of the 'Apple' banana 's cultivation in this region, as well as determine the technical and economical indicators of two production systems, both using micro-propagated and conventional seedlings in the planting. The necessary data survey to accomplish this research in the aspects related to the elaboration of technical coefficient matrixes, a basis for estimating production costs, was obtained among the region producers, and the cost methodology was based in the total cost of production. The economical results turned out to be quite satisfactory in this region for both production systems, however the liquid income obtained from the utilization of micro-propagated seedlings was 34% greater than the one obtained from the conventional system.
