Postharvest peach quality of cultivars and selections produced in Jaboticabal micro-region, São Paulo state, Brazil

The objective of this research was to evaluate the postharvest peach quality of 'Aurora-1' and 'Regis' cultivars and 'Jab 484' and 'Jab 694' peach selections, produced in the Jaboticabal micro-region, São Paulo State, Brazil. Plants had been budded on 'Okinawa' seedlings, cultivated in Hapludalfs soil with sandy medium texture at 6 x 4m space. In the second and third year after transplant (2005 and 2006), ripe fruits were harvested, according to peel coloration and maturation of each genotype. At laboratory, epicarp and mesocarp coloration analyses had been carried out (luminosity, hue and cromaticity), firmness, soluble solids, acidity and ratio. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications of 4 fruits. On the experimental conditions adopted, it was possible to conclude that: a) 'Aurora-1' peaches present reddish epicarp (lesser hue), minor acidity and greater ratio; b) amongst double purpose peach genotypes, 'Jab 484' and 'Jab 694' present fruits with the biggest soluble solid contents and acidity, what confers better industrialization characteristics.
