ABSTRACT
With the increase of life expectancy in many countries, there has been an increase of the incidence and prevalence of disabling diseases, among which cognitive impairment. The process of growing old is multifactorial and individual, and the elderly is many times seen in an exclusively phenomenic view. The aim of this study was to verify if the humanized corporal conscience work can optimize the cognitive process in elderly with cognitive impairment. The methodology employed was the bibliographic critical review. The conclusion reached was that there is an eminent lack of studies that develop strategies that enable revention, the postponement and the treatment of demential processes, as well as the human aspects related to the process of cognition.
