ABSTRACT
This paper shares and analyzes data from the intercultural survey "Youth and History at Mercosul". It contributes with data about Chile historical culture, especially about imagery that personifies national identity throughout patriotic notable persons as seen by students of high schools. The theoretical basis remains at the concepts of historical culture, political culture and social representations theory, specially the central nucleus theory. The data were collected using a questionnaire and were treated with the use of EVOC 2000 software. The results point, among other provisory conclusions, a central nucleus enclosing O'Higgins, Prat and Carrera. Manuel Rodríguez is one of the names at an intermediary nucleus, as well as Salvador Allende. The peripheral nucleus is marked by manifestations that changes the meaning of notable person, show irreverence or make appear the names of Lautaro and Violeta Parra.
