In this article we show how categories from historiographic production and the field of education provided theoretical and methodological support for a research and further education project that guided the actions carried out at the UFRPE Memorial, a museum belonging to the Rural Federal University of Pernambuco. Based on these references we produce a museographic discourse and a set of educational actions about the past - which are subject to different interpretations by the public - with which it is intended to allow space for the construction of new meanings of the past to the community being portrayed.
