The genesis of the Brazilian university reform

Abstract:

This article addresses the genesis of university reform in Brazil, as well as its relationship with the genesis of the student movement. In addition to the available literature, the periodicals from the 1920s to the 1960s were consulted. Through the analysis of these materials, the purpose was to recover the origin of the formation of the student movement and the ideas of university reform that permeated the late 1920s. Thus, the main result of this study is the unprecedented presentation of the first signs of student mobilizations in favor of the university reform. It is concluded that the genesis of university reform and student movement were influenced by the manifesto of the University of Córdoba and the initiative of Professor Bruno Lobo, University of Brazil.
