Founding myths of ANPAE: from the democratic and humanistic purity to the inclusion of political and educational projects of the civil-military dictatorship of 1964

Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the social imaginary around the foundation of ANPAE. However, for the purpose of this paper, only the presence of some pioneers, professors of the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo, in political-educational attunement with the civil-military dictatorship and an exposition of the mythical nature and purpose in organizations will be demonstrated. The myth aims to prevent thinking and ensure social cohesion. Magazines of this institution, its electronic pages and scientific papers on the intervention of the civil-military dictatorship in universities were investigated. In addition, Folha de São Paulo and Estado de São Paulo newspapers were surveyed. A critical analysis of the discourse was used. Speeches of memorialists about pioneers spread for perfection and unshakeable moral and democratic value. Despite the cult, some pioneers served, from the beginning to dictatorship's purposes as technicians with strategical positions in several educational projects and politicians, as a delegate of ARENA.
