ABSTRACT
Knowing that the pretérito perfecto compuesto in Spanish expresses the priority of the situation shown concerning a reference point located in the present (RAE, 2010REAL ACADEMIA ESPANHOLA. Nueva Gramática de la Real Academia Española. Madrid: Editorial Espasa Libros, 2010.), we set out our work in the description and analysis of this category from news written in Spanish and transmitted online by a Hispanic newspaper, because of their contribution to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language (S/FL). Given the relationship between the use of this verbal time in Spanish and the textual-discursive construction of the news, we sought to reflect on the contributions that the functionalist aspect can contribute to the teaching-learning of languages (maternal and/or foreign), without disregarding what it claims the normative grammar of the Spanish language concerning the use of thepretérito perfecto compuesto.
