This paper discusses the conversation mechanisms observed in Brazilian weblogs and fotologs based on an ethnographic study carried out in 2006 and 2007. From a discussion of these systems usage as forms of asynchronous computer mediated conversation, we point out elements of conversational structure, conversational pairs and conversational markers that help the conversations. Finally, we discuss similarities and dissimilarities in the observed data and their possible implications for future computer mediated conversation studies.
