Stupidification and study

ABSTRACT

From the teaching, research and extension tripod and its recent developments in the field of literary studies, this article discusses academic stupidification as a result of uninterrupted hyperactivity and ceaseless enterprise taken as ends in themselves. Among other phenomena, the text addresses the centrality of didacticism and the mandatory time required in the classroom, the productivist aspect of the neoliberal university and the naturalization of the article form as a fundamental vehicle for writing, as well as the recent case of the curricularization of university outreach programs, proposing the emphasis on study proper as the only possible antidote to this scenario.
