ABSTRACT

In this article, we discuss the issue of cultural dependence in the discursive memory of the relation between the teaching of foreign languages and literatures in Brazil, with emphasis on the singular place occupied by Spanish and Hispanic literatures in this context. Our research focuses on the historical archives of Pedro II School, considered a model for national education from 19th century to the mid-20th century.
