But what can literature do? (...) What can the words?

ABSTRACT

This essay aims - starting with Fluxo-Floema, by Hilda Hilst, and New Portuguese Letters, by Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Velho da Costa and Maria Teresa Horta - to discuss Jacques Derrida’s proposals, when he proposes, in “La Loi du Genre” the homologies, analogies and amalgams between literary and sexual / identity genres. It is intended, with this, to demonstrate both the naturalization between forms and identities, in the literary field, as well as the possibilities of rupture of this logic brought about by the writings of difference.
