The article intends to bring an overview of the characteristics of the drug traffic, understood here as an economic, political, and social phenomenon at the age of globalization. Moreover, it intends to show the new dimensions of the drug traffic that nowadays have become an issue in many economies of the world periphery. The profile this phenomenon has acquired in its global expansion, and particularly in some Latin American and other world periphery areas nations is emphasized.
