Contributions to the adoption of a culture of dissemination, valuation and respect to Animal Ethics Committees

The search for mechanisms to promote improvements in activities assigned to Animal Ethics Committees in didactic and scientific activities characterizes an additional and essential interface of the emerging debate in higher education institutions. The aim is to decentralize, understand and, above all, provide technical and legal information on the subject, as well as supplying Agricultural, Veterinary and Zootechnical scientists with a brief formal instrument, as a guiding reference based on legal standards and in line with bioethics. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce scientists and the society with mechanisms of training or guidance in an attempt to comply, as an institutional space of knowledge, the role of broadening the horizons of scientific research that uses animal subjects. In this article, we briefly present a diversity of mechanisms that we consider essential to give more visibility, conceptually and informatively, to the attributions of members of Animal Ethics Committees in this context. The new demand of the scientific thought is now calling a commitment to take the legal and ethical responsibility of our actions with regard to bioethics, animal experimentation and education in the present scenario, which adds to the importance of scientific advancement and the clamor of society.
