Liming in microparticle applied on the sowing furrow increases common bean yield

ABSTRACT

The application of a solution of liming (CaCO3) microparticles in the sowing furrow may accelerate the reaction of this corrective in the soil, alter soil chemical attributes and increases common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) grain yield. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis in soils with different chemical characteristics. It was done two experiments. In the first, it was evaluated the solution with CaCO3 doses (0, 1050, 2100, 4200, 8400 e 12600 g ha-1) applied on the sowing furrow for two growing season. In the second, the solution of CaCO3 (1050 g ha-1) was applied or not in the sowing furrow in four environment. The both experimental design was a complete randomized block design. The use of a solution with microparticle of CaCO3 increased pH values and reduced the Al+3 saturation in the soil. Concentration of Ca, K and base saturation of the soil were not affected by the addition of CaCO3 solution. The use of microparticle of CaCO3 solution in the sowing furrow increased common bean grain yield. Our results suggest that the use of microparticles of CaCO3 in the sowing furrow was efficient to change the soil chemical properties in the sowing and provided significant increases in common bean grain yield.
