Information and Communication Technology tools to support the Knowledge Management process an analysis of BU / UFSC tools from the perspective of the GC @ BU framework

ABSTRACT

Introduction:

Although technologies are not the fundamental aspect of Knowledge Management, it is known that they play a very important role.

Objective:

This article presents the tools of information and communication technologies that support Knowledge Management in the University Library of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Method: The analysis was performed based on the implementation of the GC@BU Framework, in its network and technology infrastructure module, in which it was possible to perceive the range of available tools and the functionality of each one of them.

Results:

The tools that support the Knowledge Management cycle processes are presented in each of the phases: capture/creation; sharing/dissemination; acquisition/application, in addition to the diagnosis and suggestions for improvements identified in the application of GC@BU.

Conclusion:

The study highlights that the tools, in the great majority, serve several Knowledge Management processes and that their employability hardly fits in only one of the phases of the Knowledge Management cycle.
