ABSTRACT
In the last 30 years, Brazil has registered an increase violence committed by young people or against young people aged 15 to 29, particularly in the North region. New virtual social networks, and the most varied equipment, technologies and media realities mark not only the youth´s daily life but are also resources in violent crime. The purpose of this article is to discuss the use of Information and Communication Digital Technologies - ICT by organized crime to commit teenage murders in the state of Roraima, Brazil. It is an exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, based on data collected by 13 journalistic reports, available online, about lethal cases of violence against young victims from 15 to 19 years old, inflicted by members of criminal factions. Through the discussion of the cases, it was possible to verify the use of ICTs to plan, execute and publicize the crimes committed by criminal factions. Thus, in accordance with the literature, it was noticed that the use of social networks and digital media is a common practice in organized crime to legitimize power, threaten, co-opt young people, cause fear and intimidate rival groups.
