The research is inspired on Karl Polanyi’s approach, which suggests the existence of important interconnections between the political and the economic, the local and the global spaces. This paper indicates that it is possible expand the understanding of the international monetary system institutions based on the concept of citizenship, considering the various constitutional paradigms.
