Abstract
This paper intends to do a synthesis of Axel Honneth´s insertion in the framework of theories of justice. For this purpose, it presents the debate between liberals and communitarians, as well as the contemporary procedimentalism, and Honneth´s critics to these statements. This way, the paper presents the theoretical outline of justice as recognition in Honneth, based on the concept of formal ethical life and the method of normative reconstruction.
