Rock and Human Rights: System of a Down and the armenian genocide

Abstract

The article aims to explain how rock can be seen as an element capable of giving voice to the demands of marginalized subjects. Focusing on the Armenian genocide, we sought to demonstrate how the performance of the band System of a Down contributes to the issue gaining visibility. Thus, the documentary Screamers, which emphasizes the reception of the public about the Armenian genocide, was used as the main source of research.
