Abstract
This article aims to analyze the experience of Canudos from the theorical framework of the law of commom. It proceeds to a genealogical approach, unraveling what was buried by its traditional missrepresentations as mere “religious fanaticism” or “primitive rebellion.” As a result, it was possible to identify the elements of its community management, capable of constitute its own meaning and an alternative institutional arrangement.
