Public security in Brazil: a critique of the intellectual production

Abstract

The present work intends to explore the consensual liberal approach of the category of State, which underpins the intellectual expert production on public security in Brazil. It departs from an articulation of the Pierre Bourdieu’s and Michel Foucault’s propositions about the intellectuals. Secondly, a critical analysis of the liberal perspective towards the State by the matrix of this intellectual current on public security is developed.
