ABSTRACT

The building of a Health Culture includes the implementation of health and wellness programs in the workplace. They consist of programs, policies, benefits and environmental support, in order to meet health and safety needs of employees and their families. It is essential that hospitals perform diagnoses to evaluate their actions. The study aimed to identify actions of health promotion and well-being implemented in hospitals to build a health culture according to the views of managers and committees related to the promotion of health and wellness and to assess the applicability of the Brazilian version of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - CDC - Worksite Health ScoreCard - HSC to the Brazilian reality. The translated questionnaire was applied to research subjects. Data were presented through descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the answers, it can be said that the hospitals have effective health and wellness programs, with peculiarities that reflect their policies and culture. There were issues regarding the applicability of the questionnaire due to the existence of public policies for the prevention and treatment of some risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases.
