BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES OF FRIENDSHIP IN THE WORKPLACE: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND RESEARCH AGENDA

Friendship at work has proven to be an important social resource, playing a central role in the lives of workers and contributing to the promotion of healthier working environments. Therefore, a gap is still open regarding a better delimitation of the scope of friendship research, identifying the benefits and challenges. Thus, the objective of the study is to identify the benefits and challenges of friendship in the workplace based on international scientific production, presenting a current research panorama. Through a systematic review of the literature, a survey was carried out on the Web of Science database, which returned 36 articles that make up the textual corpus of this review. The results revealed how the theme has evolved over the last five years, making it possible to identify the main benefits and challenges of friendship for organizations. This review presents a seminal effort in analyzing the field of friendship studies, identifying the itineraries, benefits and challenges, as well as a mapping of the field that boosted the construction of an agenda through the gaps found. It is also expected that the results collected here will serve as a diagnosis for managers to promote more humanized management, based on bonds of trust and friendship.
