WOMEN ON BOARDS OF DIRECTORS FROM A GENDER PERSPECTIVE: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

The objective of this article is an integrative review of the literature that addresses the presence of women serving on boards of directors (CAs), which is based on the Capes Platform and the EBSCOHost and Sage Journals Platforms. The keywords that guided the search were: Women AND Board AND Directors. The organization of the analysis was performed from the flowchart PRISMA (Preffered Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), being deepened from the analysis and discussion under the qualitative perspective. The results that emerged from the 29 articles analyzed guided the construction of three categories: Women on the boards of directors: barriers to ascension; the participation of women in boards of directors and organizational performance; Regulatory frameworks: implementation of quotas. We conclude that the articles present a perspective of analysis mainly on the participation of women in boards of directors based on studies with organizational biases and quantitative nature, without addressing the perception of the agents involved, that is, women and stakeholders who make decisions in companies.
