This work is the account of an experience developed in the undergraduate nursing program of the Federal University of Ceará. It is about an interdisciplinary integrated program which includes all the fundamental disciplines of Nursing II and Medical - Surgical Nursing I programs with the primary objective of improving teaching-learning process. The authors consider the experience a valid one since it allows the student to perceive the patient as a whole in regard to his affected basic needs. Beyond this, the "learning experiences" being developed in an integrated manner allow them to experience situation-problems of medical-surgical and ambulatorial patients in the same semester and in multi various levels of complexity.
