The empirical connotation of Assistance in Nursing that still predominates in Health Institutions has been a worrying factor for professionals within the nursing area, while, at the same time, it has contributed to a lack of definition of the role of the nurse within society. This only emphasizes the constant difficulties that recently graduated nurses have faced, in the assistance practice, due to the divergences of standards between the formative organ and the practice carried out in the health units. The authors, worried with the problem in question, propose to present alternatives that may contribute to the efficiency of the projects of implementation of the model of Assistance in Systemized Nursing. The study is composed of an examination of the factors considered to be obstacles that could be influencing the results of the practice of assistance in Nursing developed in Rio de Janeiro.
