It is proposed that health assistance fields be utilized as a practical model to condiciónate learning of future professionals, and that the teacher, in an attempt to outline the professional profile of the future graduate, develops both learning and assisting activities simultaneously. To achieve this goal the School of Nursing of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) has been taking up studies since 1977, with students teachers and assisting personnel. These studies determined the strategies used for the implantation of a Nutrition and Nursing Boarding Course General Program, which were established in 1981, therefore enabling a previous and effective contact between students and the reality of their future working fields.
