Aiming at reducing the improprieties of the patients submitted to total hip arthroplasty surgery in the post operative period, the authors show an equipment that was idealized and built by themselves. It was built to help the maintenance of the patient when he is in the lateral position without the risk of having a prostheses dislocation. This equipment was denominated Lateral Abductor becoming a new option to help in nursing care and consequently promoting a safety recover and more comfort to the patient. The authors describe the structure of the equipment, divulge their objective and describe the way of using it.
