The facets of the amputation: a first approach

When participating in the project "The theme of the death as a way of access to the scientific initiation", I had the opportunity of approaching the phenomenon of death in its various facets. This contact provoked questionings regarding amputation and how it was represented by those who experienced it, since it is considered a loss, similarly to death. Through scientific literature it was possible to understand the subject from different points of view, especially from the philosophical view of Merleau Ponty. It was observed that there was a lack of knowledge on the part of the nursing professionals. Thus, this study considers the perspective of those who experience amputation. In this sense, phenomenology may indicate a way of comprehending this phenomenon.
